Making vs. Buying

This morning I was given the assignment to blog....
I didn't know what to blog about, so I asked Dad for a suggestion, and he said to blog about making gifts instead of buying them.

Well, I think that a handmade gift is more special than something that was just puchased and wrapped, and it comes from the heart. It is made specifically for the person it is given to. It takes more thought, preperation, and work, than going out, seeing something that you think they would like and purchasing it. Plus, if they don't like what you bought them, they can return it, but if they don't like what you made them, they just have to suck it up and like it anyways.
 :)

I personally appreciate a handmade gift much more than something that was most likely made in China. I know that the person who made it for me loves me and they want me to have something that they made, specifically for me, with their own hands, and not some big machine in a foreign land.

Which would you rather be given?

(P.s. I'm sorry about the repitition, and my grammer skills are lacking. And it is not because I'm a homeschooler, I'm just not good at it at all!)

  1. Beautiful post Kate! I love homemade! But most of all I love making things for other people It is nice to know that somemade took the time to make you a gift. Its not the cost that matters, its the heart! You can usually tell if you are given an "obligation" gift because they have to give you something or if someone really thought about and made or purchased a gift just for you!
